Nile Dragons Rowing Academy is a community-based academy that inspires passion for the sport of rowing, promoting a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment, where you can discover the powerful connection between yourself, the boat, your teammates, and the water.

Our Academy was the first ever academy in Egypt and was established in 2013 for “Masters rowing”. Our experience goes back to the 1990s as rowers, yet we excel in employing the most qualified coaches. Our Academy started with one coach and five rowers and expanded to hundreds of rowers and around ten coaches. Our Academy offers Learn-to-Row, recreational, and competitive rowing programs for youth, collegiate rowers, and adults on any level of ability. Our levels of coaching, teamwork, and social environment have helped us so far to grow and reach a huge number of rowing fans only by word of mouth. Our goal is to reach a wider circle of people and spread our wings across the Nile.

In October 2016, the dragon boat sport was introduced to Egypt. In May 2017, we launched the dragon boat sport as one of the first academies on the Nile to harbour the dragon boat and officially embark on training for the newly introduced sport. By June 2017, the dragon boat has gained a very large number of people to the extent that we established the first team under the name the Nile Dragons, who were dedicated to win first place at all races whether official or not. Our wins were smashing due to the diligence and commitment of the team… Now, we host over 500 players who enjoy the team spirit, love the competition, and thrive for our weekly trainings and special moonlight rides and other various events.

October 2018 marked the launch date for kayaking within our Academy to fill the need for both the recreational and the competitive sport. The sport quickly gained a reputation for providing the best lessons available from the different levels of beginners, recreational, to highly competitive. Within the first month of the launch of kayaking, we were able to attract 5 competitive players, who joined the Egypt Cup race and won all of the medals from gold to bronze in November 2018. On the recreational front, we were able to attract groups and individuals who seek solitude through the Nile rides and wish to enjoy the beautiful scenery whilst developing the proper technique for kayaking.

In 2021, we decided to venture into a new horizon of watersports that depends on the wind rather than oarsman. Windsurfing is an interesting recreational sport that offer safety and accessibility for beginner and intermediate participants.
